West Lake Elementary Drafts Fundraising Guidelines
Fundraising is only a means by which we raise money to fund many of the programs sponsored by the PTA;
it is not the focus or mission of our organization. To that end, fundraising guidelines have been drafted
for which include a proposal that up to three major fundraisers fund our general budget. Any other fundraiser
has to be tied to a specific project. Details
Fundraising
Because our tax dollars are not enough to provide the best for our
children, the West Lake Elementary PTA manages many types of fundraising
projects for activities that support teachers and staff, students, parents,
school programs and educational enhancements. Some fundraising projects are
based on community and rebate programs and do not require a direct contribution
to benefit the school.
- All Profit
Donation Drive - This annual request for direct cash donations is our
annual fundraiser held in the Fall. The WLE PTA All Profit Donation Drive, a
request for direct cash donations, does not require students and parents to
sell products door-to-door in order to raise working capital. Our All Profit
Donation Drive allows you to make a one-time, 100% tax-deductible donation to
your school and 100% of the donation remains at West Lake Elementary. Giving is
easy-just print and complete a donation form
and return with payment to the school.
- School
Store - The PTA School Store, operated by parent volunteers, is open
Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:50-8:20 AM. It offers items such as
pencils, pens, erasers, notebook paper, crayons, glue, portfolio folders, etc.
Most items are priced below $1.00.
-
- Corporate Volunteer Programs/Local Businesses including
SAS, Glaxo-Smith-Kline (GSK), State Farm and CISCO - Several local
businesses contribute money when employees volunteer in the schools. Also,
check your spouse's company for corporate philanthropy options. Be sure to log
your time in the volunteer book in the office! Learn more!
Community & Rebate Programs
- Boxtops for Education - Several food companies print
"Boxtops for Education" on their packages, and each "boxtop" collected is worth
a dime to WLE! Participating companies include General Mills Cereals, Fruit
snacks (Rollups, By the Foot, String), Gushers, Yoplait products, and Lloyds
meat products. When you use a participating product, please save the "boxtop"
and send it to school via your child's teacher. WLE has collected over 30,000
in a school year for this on-going program. Note: Trimming the boxtop coupons
helps the volunteers who count and submit the thousands of boxtops our school
collects! WLE has collected over 10,000 in a school year for this on-going
program.
-
Campbell's Labels for Education - By collecting labels and proofs of
purchase, WLE will be eligible for free educational and athletic equipment.
Qualified products include Campbell's soups, beans, and juices, V8 juices,
Franco-American, Prego, Swanson, Pepperidge Farm products. When you use a
"qualified" product, please save the label or lid and send it to school via
your child's teacher.
- Harris Teeter VIC Rebates - When you link your VIC card
to the WLE school code, WLE receives 2% of any Harris Teeter private label
brands that you purchase. Ask the cashier to make sure your card is linked to
West Lake Elementary! Link the WLE code 2311 with your card. One suggestion:
tape the number on the back of the card. Please note: you must re-link the WLE
code each school year -- but once it is linked, you will not have to do it
again this school year.
- Target Take Charge - When you use your Target Guest
Card for purchases, Target will credit your designated school with 1% of your
pre-tax total. Be sure to specify West Lake Elementary as your school of
choice. Talk with the help desk at Target if you need to make changes to your
card or want to open an account!
- Tyson Project A+ - Contribute 24¢ every time you
send in labels from Tyson products that feature the Project A+ logo. Cut on
dotted line and send in entire panel which includes the 1-2-3.
