Report Card Tips
- Sit down with your child and look over the report card (separately if you have more than one child).
- Let your child tell you about his good grades and his poor grades.
- Find something positive to say even if you are disappointed in the grades.
Praise her for good behavior, attendance, meeting deadlines, etc.
- If you have more than one child, do not compare or set them up to compete.
- If the grades are poor, ask him how you can help. Make a plan with your child and
your child’s teacher to help improve the grades.
- If your child did well but is upset because she did
not get straight A’s, reassure her that she does not have to be perfect.
Praise her for her hard work and the good job she did.
- Whether the grades were great, average or low, show you
are interested in what your child is learning. Encourage your
child to aim high and do his or her best.
- If you have questions or need help, please contact your child’s teacher, guidance counselor or principal.
