Our fourth grader was selected from a drawing by MDCPS Health and Nutrition as the winner of the Wide Receiver Wednesday program for enjoying 10 straight days of healthy balanced nutritional lunch at school. He won a $100 NFL Gift Card. Stay tuned and check back often on the site to see what's next this coming year and check out the variety of lunch we have to offer. 

Our community is big and at WLE we couldn't be more thankful for all those that keep giving back. This year we had Liam Tan-Yi the Senior Patrol Leader at Boy Scouts of America Troop 23 make our garden his Eagle Project. He exceeded our expectations.  Our kids are already learning and taking notes on what's been planted and we can't wait to keep this beautiful garden growing.

You Can Make a Difference!  Please bring canned goods and food items to your homeroom teacher to help families in the community. We would like each grade to bring in the following items:

Pre-Kindergarten: muffin mix and boxes of macaroni and cheese

Kindergarten: boxed cake mix and frosting

First Grade: Canned vegetable and canned black beans

Second Grade: Small bags of rice and boxes of Stove Top stuffing

Third Grade: Canned yams, canned corn, and canned pork and beans

Fourth Grade: Canned cranberry sauce, canned fruits, boxes of macaroni and cheese

Fifth Grade: Canned gravy, instant mashed potatoes

We are collecting now until Wednesday, November 20th.

Progress report went out today on Friday.  

We're sharing a great tool to engage students in a literacy experience that will allow for the comparing and contrasting of themes, analysis of text and illustrations, and making self, textual and world connections. If you are wondering what the next book will be, click and explore. 

Our PTA is participating in this year's Reflection program. Remember that you can choose to submit an entry within the categories specified by November 1st to your home room teacher to be eligible. 

William Lehman Elementary is committed in assisting with Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ initiative by providing relief to those affected by Hurricane Dorian. Our school will begin the collection of donations on Monday, September 9.  Faculty, staff, students and parents will be able to bring donations to the school and take them to the main drop-off entrance by the cafeteria as well as the entrance by the main office. Led by our Coach Bethell who is originally from the Bahamas and most of his family is still there, let's show our compassion and Values Matter that bring out the best in all of us.

As a result of #HurricaneDorian, all MiamiSchools, including night and adult programs, as well as District offices will be closed and all student activities will be canceled on Tuesday, September 3rd.

The Parent Academy is a free, year-round, parent engagement initiative of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, helping parents become full partners in their children’s education. Free workshops and classes are offered monthly throughout Miami-Dade County for both parents and children.

Welcome back to school! We're gearing up for an amazing year.  Arrive early so you can avoid traffic and arrive on time. Pre-K through 1st grade starts at 8:20 and 2nd grade through 5th grade begins at 8:35 am.  Parents are welcomed in the building the first day. Parking is available around the school. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN the TEACHER'S PARKING LOT.  You can park around the building and outside the perimeter. 

New this year, you can register for before and after school care online! You can register from the online Parent Portal or via online browser. Follow the tips on the attached sheet or find out more here.
